Giraffe Manor

Back

Kenya

An exclusive and historic 12-room boutique hotel, Giraffe Manor has an extraordinary appeal with its stately façade, elegant interior, green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards. It is also located within 140 acres of indigenous forest just outside Nairobi. Guests often remark that it’s like walking into the film "Out of Africa”. Aptly so, as one of its rooms is named after the author Karen Blixen. One of the many fascinating things about Giraffe Manor is its resident herd of Rothschild’s giraffes who visit almost every morning and evening before retreating to their forest sanctuary. They make your breakfast fun-filled as they come in every morning poking their head through the window for a small treat. This gorgeous old manor house has an uplifting atmosphere and it is also one of the "most instagrammed properties” in the world.

The property is located in located in a Nairobi suburb. Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is 27 kms from the Manor and it takes approximately 45 minutes from the airport to the Manor.

Accomodation

The original Giraffe Manor was built in 1932 and has 5 Superior rooms and 1 Superior Family Suite: Betty, Daisy, Jock, Marlon, Lynn and the Karen Blixen Suite (with two en-suite bedrooms). The interior of the rooms has been modelled with evident passion to ensure that the manor retains its 1930s character and charming history. The Garden Manor was created in 2011 and sits right next door. Although built 78 years later, reclaimed materials have been used from the period in which the original manor was built and its design replicates that of the main house. The Garden Manor also has 5 Superior rooms and 1 Superior Suite: Helen, Kelly, Arlene, Edd, Salma and the Finch Hatton Suite Because the manor was originally a private family home, all the rooms are completely unique.
