We started our interactive virtual experiences in June last year, in the middle of the lockdown with the objective to keep the keep the spirit of travel alive. To quench our client’s thirst for wanderlust. To discover our world virtually and maybe add a destination or two to our clients bucket list when travel resumes. We conducted close to 50 virtual experiences in six months which was only possible thanks to the encouraging support and positive feedback from our clients. Click here to read what our clients have to say.

It has been quite a journey for us, more so in these tough times. We have learned so much, met some wonderful new people and most importantly connected with our clients who have actively participated in our virtual experiences and encouraged us along this journey of discovery. Click here to see the list of virtual experiences that we conducted from June to December 2020.

With the vaccine around the corner, we start 2021 in the hope that our lives can go back to normal and we can travel freely again. We are still a few months away from ticking off our bucket list, especially if it means travelling overseas but there is light at the end of the tunnel! To continue to keep our wanderlust alive, we bring you a fresh set of virtual experiences in 2021. Remember our experiences are privately guided by experts, conducted LIVE, they are informative & interactive and they’re from across the world, curated by our team of experts just for you.

VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES IN JANUARY, FEBRUARY AND MARCH

Stories behind the Taj Mahal

Stories behind the Taj Mahal

Through this experience, Amita Baig Executive Director of World Monuments Fund in India, will take us to Shahjahan’s view of the Taj Mahal, circumscribed by his limited access to the monument. We will explore his intent, his grand design and how it was used then, from the sacred mausoleum to the Moonlight Garden, beyond his love of Mumtaz Mahal. He was an Emperor of stupendous ambition and even conceit. The transition from a sacred space to a civic monument is of particular interest as the sacred takht of the Emperor became the dance floor for British soldiers. The stories are myriad, as are the interpretations, the flowers in perpetual mourning and gardens which transformed in every season.

Stories from the Mahabharata

Stories from the Mahabharata

In this series, we break down the vast epic, and tell it as a cluster of tales, all linked by a theme, and with no compromise on the beauty or the integrity of the original. Join us as we take you through India’s most loved epic, the Mahabharata.

Nagaland - Textiles of Identity

Nagaland - Textiles of Identity

Nagaland is India’s final frontier, landlocked between India and Myanmar, at the north eastern edge of the Subcontinent. It is home to a proud and independent people, whose self-sustaining way of life is rooted in their land. Here textiles signify identity, and communicate age, status, wealth and power. Traditional patterns are coded with symbolic meaning - from Konyak royalty to Angami and Chakhesang elders. Utilitarian textiles are emerging as today’s prestige-cloths. Highly skilled women weave these on back-strap looms, in a fiber-to-fabric journey that is often completely local. They are made from stinging nettle that is foraged from the wild, and plied into yarn soft enough to be worn! Join Radhi Parekh, founder director of ARTISANS’ Centre as she brings alive the textiles of Nagaland.

The complicated layouts elaborate wall treatments and spacious interiors of these monuments testify to the genius of Hoysala designers and builders. In this illustrated lecture Kamalika Bose provides a comprehensive introduction to the architecture and art and ends with a commentary on the current use and state of conservation of these historical sites.

Indian Food at Home & Abroad

Indian Food at Home & Abroad

Professor Krishnendu Ray, a leading authority on Indian food in India and abroad and an engaging story-teller, will paint a picture of Indian food as seen from up close. He will underline the vast regional differences across the 22 linguistic regions and many more foodscapes of India showing how in fact most Indians are not vegetarians although there is a strong taboo against eating beef that emerged in the contest between Buddhism and Hinduism more than two millennia ago. Additionally using vivid visual materials he will outline an intriguing rice/wheat/millet line in India which is also associated with fish eating or vegetarianism. Prof Ray is the Chair of the department of Nutrition and Food Studies at NYU and the Dean of Liberal Arts at the Culinary Institute of America.
