US introduces new 'visa integrity fee' for all non-immigrants:
|
Under the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' introduced by Donald Trump's administration, a fixed visa integrity fee of USD 250 will be charged for tourist, student and work visas. And from 2026 onwards, this amount of USD 250 will annually increase based on Consumer Price Index.
Authorities have highlighted that while the fee is non-waivable and cannot be reduced in any condition, it can be refunded to the traveller if they abide by the immigration laws and duly leave the country within the stipulated time. If the fee is not reimbursed for any reason, the amount will be directed to the US Treasury’s general fund. This act was made to strengthen the immigrations laws for all foreigners and better compliance with the rules and regulations of the country. However, the implementation details of the new visa integrity fee are awaited.

This agreement comes as airlines of both countries had fulfilled their share of allocated seats a long time ago and have nearly 40 flights operating daily between the two countries.

Codeshare partnership between IndiGo and Turkish Airlines to remain unchanged after the lease ends:
On May 30, the DGCA gave Indigo a final three-month extension to continue with the lease of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft from Turkish Airlines. The lease will end on August 31 and usage of these planes must be stopped by the airline. This decision has been prompted due to India and Turkiye’s tense relations in recent times due to the latter’s support towards Pakistan during the war-like situation between India and Pakistan in May.
CEO of IndiGo Pieter Elbers confirmed that despite the strained relationship between India and Turkiye, the airline will continue to have Istanbul on their route, exploring other options like deploying A321 aircraft after the lease ends. They are smaller than the leased Boeing-777 but they can handle medium-haul international routes. The codeshare between the two airlines is also said to remain unchanged in the future as it allows both airlines to sell seats on each other’s flights and make travel easier for passengers by offering more destinations on a single ticket.

Air India announces partial restoration from August after its 'Safety Pause':
In a recent press release, Air India has announced a partial restoration of schedules that were reduced by 15 to 20% from the 'Safety Pause' strategy following the tragic accident of AI727 on June 12, 2025 which forced the airline to take additional precautionary checks on its Boeing 787 fleet of aircraft.
The partial resumption will see restoration of some frequencies from August 01, relative to July with full restoration planned from October 01, 2025. There will be several changes in terms of the increased/reduced frequency and temporary suspension of flights on specific routes.
One of the casualties of the 'safety pause' is the suspension is the Pune - Singapore 5X weekly service which has been suspended till Sep 30.
