Maharashtra has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases in the last couple of weeks which has resulted in new protocols for inter-state travel. These and more travel updates since our last e-newsletter that we circulated a couple of weeks ago.

United Airlines announces direct service between BLR and SFO:
|

Bengaluru Airport is quickly emerging as a major hub for flights to the United States. 2021 will see United, American, and Air India all start routes from Bengaluru to the west coast of the US. The new routes will see the Bengaluru – USA route go from being underserved to becoming a battleground for airlines.
The Bengaluru to San Francisco daily flight service that commences from 30th May 2021 will also be United’s longest flight to date, flying over 8,700 miles. The flight will take over 17 hours and will be flown by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The schedule will be as follows:

Government of India issues new rules for international passengers:
|

To reduce the risk of importing mutant strains of SARS-CoV-2, SOP for international passengers arriving in India have been updated and new SOP’s will be in effect from 22nd February.
All incoming international travellers coming/transiting through flights originating from United Kingdom, Europe and Middle East have to follow the new guidelines.

Updated inter-state Covid-19 RT-PCR testing requirements:

Maharashtra adds Kerala to the list of states for RT-PCR testing of arriving travellers:
|
Maharashtra govt. has issued an order making it mandatory for passengers arriving from Kerala to undergo Covid-19 RT-PCR test on arrival.
The order comes after the Maharashtra government added Kerala to the list of states from which incoming passengers will have to take an RT-PCR test before entering the state, in its efforts to step-up the vigil in its fight against COVID-19. The other states on the list are Gujarat, Goa, Delhi, Rajasthan where the RT-PCR test has to be taken within 72 hours of arriving into Maharashtra. Testing on arrival facility is also available at the airports in Maharashtra.

Karnataka, Delhi, MP & Gujarat makes RT-PCR test mandatory for those arriving from Maharashtra

The Karnataka, Delhi, MP & Gujarat governments have made Covid-19 negative certificates mandatory for those arriving from Maharashtra. In a circular the state governments have said the new rule will apply to anyone arriving from Maharashtra by flights, buses, trains or private vehicles.

UK introduces new rules for passengers arriving into the UK:
|
|
|
The UK Government has confirmed new mandatory testing requirements for all international arrivals to England from 15 February 2021. Customers arriving in England will be required to have two PCR tests, on day 2 and day 8 of their 10-day home quarantine.
The testing on arrival requirement is in addition to the existing mandatory requirement for all international arrivals to provide a negative Covid-19 test result before departure for England, taken up to 3 days before departure.
Anyone arriving into England who has visited or been in transit through one of the red list countries in the last 10 days will be required to purchase a quarantine package (which will include the government approved accommodation, Covid-19 testing facilities and assigned transportation).
