Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Thekkady is one of the largest in India occupying 777 sq kms of land in the cardamom hills at the heart of Thekkady district. The resident herd of wild elephants is the parks star attraction, and every day visitors flock to the lake side to watch them gambol in the shallow waters, The park is also a home to spotted deers, tigers, sambers bison , malabar flying squirrels and over 260 bird species.

Early morning enjoy a boat ride on the beautiful Lake Periyar located in the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary which is the best way to experience the sanctuary ( at an extra cost )

Day 4 Thekkady- Kumarakom ( approx 175 kms )

After breakfast depart for Kumarakom. On arrival check into the hotel booked for you for a stay of 2 nights

Today, the day will be at leisure for you to relax and enjoy your scenic surroundings. Option to do ayurveda massage at the resort's ayurveda center. Or opt to visit the Bird sanctuary – a favourite haunt for Migratory birds, from across the world

Traditionally, the houseboat was called Kettuvallam, which means a boat made by tying together pieces of wood. The materials that go into the making are all local and Eco friendly bamboo poles, coconut fiber ropes, bamboo mats, coir carpets etc These traditional country boats were used as the mode of transport in the early times from the isolated interior villages to the towns. But these boat services have been laid off with the developments taken place in the transport services in the recent past. Today these giant 80-foot long crafts have been adapted into luxuriously furnished houseboats. A Kettuvallam usually has one or two bath attached rooms, an open lounge, deck, kitchenette and a crew comprising two oarsmen and a cook. Traditional lanterns are used as lights. Evening at leisure on the beach. Overnight at Kovalam.

Option to relax at the beach or enjoy a sightseeing tour of Trivandrum . Visit the Padmanabha Swamy temple and the Napier museum, After Lunch at Trivandrum , return to Kovalam. Overnight at Kovalam
