Introduction
Global warming is caused by a build up of carbon dioxide (CO2)
acting like a planetary duvet and trapping heat in the atmosphere.
Climate Change refers to the increase in the average temperature
of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth
century and its projected continuation. The main cause of climate
change is attributed to the build up of carbon dioxide (CO2)
in the atmosphere. While every living thing produces CO2 naturally,
human activities such as the combustion of fossil fuels and
deforestation have caused the concentration of atmospheric carbon
dioxide to increase by about 35% since the early 1900s. Experts
believe that the increasing global temperature may cause sea
levels to rise, exacerbate the intensity of extreme weather
events, and affect the amount and pattern of global precipitation.
Other effects of global warming will include changes in agricultural
yields, trade routes, glacier retreat, species extinctions and
extension in the ranges of disease vectors.

Air Travel and Global Warming:
Air travel causes the release of more than 600 million tonnes
of the world's major greenhouse gas CO2 into the atmosphere
each year.
Air travellers obviously contribute to greenhouse gas emissions
by having to fly, often out of sheer geographic necessity and
the tourism industry finds they leave a larger footprint on
the environment than they'd wish. With growing public awareness
of sustainability both locally and abroad increasing pressure
is being placed on the tourism industry to deliver a solution
that creates sustainable growth opportunities for businesses
and the industry as a whole.

UNIGLOBE Travel's Carbon Neutral
Program:
UNIGLOBE Travel's Carbon Neutral Program is one of the ways you can support green house emission reduction goals
UNIGLOBE Travel is working with The CarbonNeutral Company, a leading climate change and carbon offsetting business - to offer our clients a CarbonNeutral travel solution to reduce the carbon impact of travel.
Carbon offset credits purchased through UNIGLOBE Travel's Carbon Neutral Program are invested in environmentally friendly projects within India such as wind power, producing a continuous stream of greenhouse gas emission reduction. So for every Kg of CO2 produced by our client’s travel, money is invested in these carbon reduction projects which will save the equivalent amount of CO2 thus making the travel Carbon Neutral. The CarbonNeutral Company has been working in climate change for over 10 years and companies that work with them include Sky, Honda, Barclays and Avis. For more information on the CarbonNeutral Company, click here
